About the 2019 Conference: The fifty-year anniversary conference will be a special event that will celebrate the past, present, and future of sociology in the two-state region. The association has planned a number of special events that will be of interest to sociologists who practice in a wide variety of venues, as well as to undergraduate and graduate students. The association has a tradition of strong involvement of student papers, presentations, and poster sessions with significant awards for both graduate and undergraduate competitions. Many sociologists in the two-state region have incorporated fall semester projects for students with the goal of them presenting at the annual meetings of A-MSA. Submission Details: We welcome abstracts for panels, papers, or posters. Abstracts should describe the work to be presented in 150 words or less. All abstracts must be submitted via email to msussrc@gmail.com. Please provide the type of submission you wish to make in the subject line of the email: 1) Panel, 2) Paper, 3) Posters, and include the title, abstract, and authors provided within the body of the email.

All submissions are due by November 30, 2018.

• Panels: Submissions must include a title and abstract for the panel and titles, abstracts, and author information for all papers included in the panel.

  • Papers: Submissions must include the title, abstract, and all author information.
  • Posters: Submissions must include the title, abstract, and all author information.Equipment: Projectors will be provided. However, panel chairs should bring personal laptops to be used in their respective session(s).As part of the Annual Conference, A-MSA hosts the presentation of papers as well as four distinct student competitions: The Undergraduate Poster Competition, the Graduate Poster Competition, the Undergraduate Paper Competition, and the Graduate Paper Competition.
  • Student Poster Competitions: All student poster competition submissions should be emailed to Dr. Linda Stringfellow at lstringf@deltastate.edu. All email submissions should contain “A-MSA Student Poster Competition” in the subject line. Please indicate whether you wish to participate in the undergraduate or graduate student poster competition. To be considered for an award, all poster submissions are due by email on February 19, 2019.

    Student Paper Competitions: All student paper competition submissions should be emailed to Dr. Jeneve R. Brooks at jrbrooks@troy.edu. All email submissions should contain “A-MSA Student Paper Competition” in the subject line. Please indicate whether you wish to participate in the undergraduate or graduate student paper competition. Abstracts for paper submissions are due by November 30, 2018. Full paper submissions are due January 25, 2019.
